Ruth Powers & Coffee

For the past three years I have developed a love for the craft of coffee. The vast amount of brewing methods, flavors, drink combinations, and the endless creativity that goes into coffee is extremely inspiring to me and reflects the creative and communal nature of God. I spend a lot of my free time brewing, tasting, and evaluating coffees, and I love to share the results of my work with others. Serving people a well made cup of coffee brings me joy and offers me a chance to build relationships with people I may not have met otherwise.

The Traveling Barista is a coffee bar event service. At any event I and my team members will set up and run a full service coffee bar (minus espresso) for you and your guests. Price depends on the amount of guests, amount of time, and traveling distance.

Established in 2017

As a cramped junior-college student in a dorm, I made a priority of practicing coffee brewing methods and collecting coffee equipment. By November 2016, I had proposed to my college an idea to run a weekly coffee bar in one of the lounges where there was a counter- yet no coffee being served. While the college-coffee bar hasn't worked out yet, God used it to lead me to an even greater idea: If I can set up a coffee bar at my college, I could set one up just about anywhere.

Our Goal

To serve you and your guests excellent hand-made coffee drinks that reflect who God is.

The God of Scripture is intensely creative (Genesis 1-2) and focused on unity among his people with himself. I believe that the specialty coffee industry reflects these traits in the intense care with which coffee is grown, packaged, shipped, selected, roasted, brewed, and served. In order to serve a great cup of coffee, extensive work goes into each step of the process to evaluate variables and produce the best coffee possible. No cup of coffee can be made by the efforts of one person, and all must work towards the same goals in order to serve guests well.

As needed, we hire trained baristas and greeters to help take and make your orders and help the coffee bar run smoothly. We couldn't do it without these amazing team members.
